Time flies by
Where does time go?
I said after our wedding last September we are going to have an easy 2013! But I seem to be keeping the family busy!
Our freezers are so full, the lambs returned from the abattoir last weekend. They were very very nice hoggets. (A hogget is a sheep over 12 month of age) Lean and a great size.
Mum struggled taking them, couldn't look at the carcasses and even considered vegetarianism! But after a strong coffee and remembering why we raise our own animals: so they have a good life and aren't reared so intensively and stuffed full of medicines. We had a beautiful leg, we
are so lucky to be able to do what we do.
We finished the bee practical course and dropped off our first hive to be filled with bees. We took delivery of our fancy "Beesy" frames. They are made by a local bee keeper and have plastic corners that click together to make each frame .
We have real slug problems in the garden. They are eating everything. So i have set some beer traps.
We went to the South of England Show yesterday. A lovely day out with Gareths parents. Such a range of livestock. I nearly brought another fleece from a black wensleydale! But the lady in front of me beat me to it!
Gareth has decided we need some goats and a shire horse.
We also treated ourselves to a wool duvet that is 100% british. Its lovely. Wool keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer!
We spent the whole of today preparing for the Blackwater Country Show loading trailers. I think we are getting somewhere.
Finished off with a beautiful venison dinner!
